Only in Minnesota do you have weather like we had at the Basilica Block Party this weekend.
Friday: 98 degrees and so deathly humid. Then later on, severe weather including rain that forces the 25,000 attendees to huddle under the 394 bridge and later emerge in various stages of damp to soaking wet.
Saturday: 76 and partly cloudy. Strong winds, but generally perfect.
It was a very very fun weekend anyways! Check out a couple pictures.
Consider this reason #8,003 that I am sad I do not live in New York City.
It was just announced that my very favorite rocker Jon Bon Jovi will be playing a free concert in Central Park on July 12th. The Concert begins at 8 pm (grounds open at 2pm), and you can get your free ticket at Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium or KeySpan park starting tomorrow morning at 9am.
Ok, iTunes has sucked me in again. I randomly bought this entire album the other day out of pure electronic music download convience. I liked their song “Hollywood’s not America” and so with the click of the mouse I decided to, why not, own the whole album.
Ever since then I have pretty much not listened to anything else! (Except Matt Wertz) I love Ferras songs “Dont Give Up on Me” “Soul Rock” and “Something about You.” The only one I could really do without is the “Dear God” song which I find annoying…but I love the rest of the album.
AND! They are coming to town! See them next Monday June 23 opening for Ryan Cabrerra at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown.
Last night I went to the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown to the Matt Wertz concert.
It was a great show. I love the chill atmosphere of the Varsity, and the music of MW just fits perfectly there. He put on a great show and was having a great time with the audience. It was a very casual and laid back show, chatting with the audience and asking for song requests. Recently he was signed with Universal Records and has a new album coming out on August 19th titled “Under the Summer Sun.” His previous indie albums are available on itunes, and you can listen to some of his songs on MySpace.
Yes, I can barely live without my iPod. (I know, its a bit dramatic) But I pretty much bring it everywhere and listen to it all the time. I just got some stand alone travel speakers to go with it, but check this out…there are tons and tons of different speakers to go with your ipod. I have highlighted a few of my favs below…
Best Speakers for Men On-the-go: iPod Belt Buckle
I can’t believe I didn’t think of this first. I think it is such a cool idea. They come in multiple designs (for men and women), but so far it looks like they are built to hold the Nano only. I am sure it will be only a matter of time before you can put your iTouch or Video iPod on your belt and let your neighbor watch a tv show at your waist. Weird. Buy them online at TuneBuckle.
Best Speakers for Women On-the-go: iPod Shoulder Bag
Ok, I found this image on this site, but I cannot find anywhere to actually order them online. Sorry, but no link for this one I guess. Call me a dork, but I could own this. It would be sort of fun to have when you are at the lake and on vacation. I love things that are both functional and fun.
Best Speakers for a Big Party: Pink Cube Speakers
These sort of crack me up, partly because they are hot pink. Check them out line at SendIt.
Best Speakers Just for fun: Giant Earbud Speakers
A playful take on the Apple earbuds. Bring them anywhere and everywhere. Buy them on the website at FredFlare.
Best Speakers for the Beach: iPod Boombox
I love this. Partly because the guy in the picture looks so hilarious. Want to relive the past days where boom boxes were a way of life? Now you can! You put your ipod into the center of the boom box and then it can be controlled by the buttons on the front.Purchase the boom box online at UrbanOutfitters.
Best Speakers for the Bathroom: iPod TP Roll
Yes. This is real. I could hardly believe it myself. Purchase this TP roll speaker system at OldFashionedValues.
I am doing my part to keep the economy going. 🙂
The OC Season 4 DVDs ($50)
I have been waiting to watch this for the last few months, finally just figured I would go out and buy it. I watched the finale episode last night. Call me a sap, but I cried like a baby. It’s such a good show.
True Religion Capris ($150)
Someday when I am rich and famous (yeah right) all my jeans will be designer jeans. I just love them. I bought some True Religion capris this weekend. Oh they are wayyyyyyyyy to expensive…and I have a bit of buyer’s remorse, but I think I am going to keep them. They are like the jeans below…except mid-calf length.
A multitude of random iTunes songs ($25)
…including my new favorites below:
Running up that Hill by Placebo
New York by Cat Power
Shake it by Metro Station
Nine in the Afternoon by Panic at the Disco
Hollywood’s Not America by Ferras
Yep, I know it’s not exactly what President Bush wanted, but the amount of money that was left over after the above spending went directly into helping with my rent payment this month. Oh goody.
Hey, if the US government wants to give me $600 bucks every year I am all for that plan!
I’m so happy. 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS DAVID COOK!
