State Fair Bingo!

You know how when you are out with your friends at some public event (water park, baseball game, state fair, county fair, etc) you see the strangest and probably ugliest things ever? With my friends we play a game called “Team” and claim members for our team of the most misfit weird people we can find. Of course, this is all discreet and those people we are “claiming” know nothing of our mockery. We aren’t being mean, we are just enjoying the wide variety of people/hairstyles/fashion choices out in the world. And guess what? The Minnesota State Fair just might be the best place to find these sorts of “team members.”

Well it turns out we are not the only people who play games at public events….I got this email by forward, I didnt make it. But it is great! PEOPLE WATCHING BINGO! Print out the PDF pages for you and your friends and head out on your way to finding the greatest Mullet, 80’s jean shorts, teenage make-out, Fanny Pack or Child on a Leash.

Enjoy! fairbingo

Vita.mn’s List of Lists: Hottest Local Male News Anchor

Ok, so I haven’t ever actually looked at this List of Lists thing before this year, but I already have an issue with it.  Below is the list of

Hottest local male news personality

  1. Sven Sundgaard
  2. Mike Pomeranz
  3. Frank Vascellaro
  4. Eric Perkins
  5. Don Shelby
  6. Keith Marler
  7. Rick Kupchella
  8. Joe Fryer
  9. Jason DeRusha
  10. Jonathan Yuhas

Ok, I love Sven and all. As in I love to make fun of him from my living room. (Or point at him as he goes running by at Lake Calhoun.) But he does NOT deserve to be the hottest local male news celebrity!

And my personal favorite (and old man crush), Jeff Passolt, didn’t even make the list. Sad. I’m calling for a recount. Also, when googling to find images of both of them, I found out that Jeff Passolt was a record scoring hockey player during his days at St. Cloud State. That alone should push him right up into the number 1 spot. Yes?

Music: Basilica Block Party

Only in Minnesota do you have weather like we had at the Basilica Block Party this weekend.

Friday: 98 degrees and so deathly humid. Then later on, severe weather including rain that forces the 25,000 attendees to huddle under the 394 bridge and later emerge in various stages of damp to soaking wet.

Saturday: 76 and partly cloudy. Strong winds, but generally perfect.

It was a very very fun weekend anyways! Check out a couple pictures.

Random: One more thing…

Ok last week I posted about what I purchased with my economic stimulus money…well add one more thing to that list.

Yes, I am now the proud owner of a Twins jersey. Yay! I guess now I can finally call myself a Minnesotan. You can buy them online here. I just bought mine on a whim at the game. Yay economic stimulus!

Wednesday Twins games are the BEST deal around here. Bring your student ID (which I am still using, even though I have been out of college for a while) and get a upper deck general admission ticket for $4. And even better…Wednesdays are Dollar Dome Dog night. So really…its cheaper to go to a game than go see a movie. And it really is more fun.

Check out the Twins schedule here.

Concert: Bon Jovi rocks MN!

jbj.jpg

Ok…I love concerts. Live Music is one my guilty pleasures…and I probably spend more money attending concerts every year than the average person. I just do. I love it.

Well the Bon Jovi concert was no disappointment to a seasoned concert attender like myself. I will go ahead and proudly proclaim it the BEST CONCERT I have EVER attended! The music was fun, of course…and who wouldnt love it? It was a great mix of songs from the classics (Livin on a prayer! Wanted! Its my Life!) and most of their new cd Lost Highway.

I was lucky enough to come across great tickets on Craigslist…the day of the concert! My friend Caitlin and I decided to go on a whim…literally at 8:30 am the day of the show. I found a seller(Thanks to Chad from Cottage Grove!) on Cragislist, we met him at 4:30 pm to pick them up, grabbed dinner and went to the show at 7:30. Let me tell you…it just adds to the excitement to do it spontaneously!

Bon Jovi are REAL rock stars. The concert was high energy and long enough to make it worth the price of admission. You can tell these guys have been rockin it for years and know what works. The transitions were seamless, they seemed to be having a great time, and were great at interacting with the crowd. The backdrop to the show was a series of moveable video/lighting panels. Watching them move and change for each song was amazing. Whoever directed & designed all the effects gets mad props from me!

One of the highlights was also a duet between Chris Daughtry (the opener) and Bon Jovi on the song Wanted. I think I got a video of that one. I will try to post it If I can.

I will try to post some more pics later too. But bottom line… if this show is coming to your city…I reccomend it! FREAKING AWESOME!
